The Sixth Sense and Signs, the classic thriller movies from director M. Night Shyamalan, are finally getting 4K Blu-Ray releases this October. Both movies are currently available to pre-order from Amazon US ahead of their arrival on 22 October, though there’s currently no listing for them on Amazon South Africa.
The Sixth Sense released in 1999 and earned M. Night Shyamalan several Academy Award nominations including Best Original Screenplay and Best Director. It told the story of a child psychologist, Malcolm Crowe (Bruce Willis) who tries to help a young boy, Cole (Haley Joel Osment) after he learns that Cole is able to see dead people. Signs, on the other hand, told the story of two brothers (Mel Gibson and Joaquin Phoenix) who must contend with an alien invasion after crop circles appear around the world.
Both movies are considered classics today and some of the best in the thriller/horror genre, with Signs particularly conjuring up some effective alien scares. The Sixth Sense and Signs will get 4K Blu-Ray releases for the first time on 22 October at $46 each. Unfortunately, it’s only limited to Amazon US which means if you’re trying to get your hands on them locally, you may need to pay the hefty import cost.
In related news, M. Night Shyamalan recently wrote and directed the thriller Trap, which released in cinemas last month. It’s currently available digitally, if you’re keen on checking it out. The plot description reads:
“In M. Night Shyamalan’s latest outing, everyone in a large city is in a frenzy. Why? That’s because they’re up and ready to watch a concert performed by famous pop star Lady Raven. Two of her fans, a man named Cooper and his daughter Riley, attend the concert with high spirits, but things slowly begin to change their tune. Amongst the screams of adoration and sounds of applause, the concert itself has a hidden identity: a front to fish out an infamous serial killer known as The Butcher.”
