The Super Mario Bros. Movie Gets Epic Final Trailer

Nintendo has released the final trailer for the anticipated release of The Super Mario Bros. Movie. The trailer arrived as part of a Direct stream Nintendo has been planning for almost a month now. However, it was definitely worth the wait. The trailer includes so many exciting new details including Luma from Super Mario Galaxy and Donkey Kong’s Fire Flower power.

Following the release of the trailer, animation studio Illumination released the official synopsis for the film. The studio’s co-director Michael Jelenic also commented on the film’s Rainbow Road scenes and how the studio developed new lighting and rendering technology to elevate The Super Mario Bros. Movie beyond anything the studio has done in the past.

Jelenic says:

” We brought in artists who specialise in vehicle design and worked closely with the team at Nintendo to create some new karts that felt organic to the Jungle Kingdom while still inspired by the iconic game design. We improved our lighting and rendering technology to elevate this movie beyond anything Illumination has ever done”

The official film synopsis also details some things we can expect from The Super Mario Bros. Movie when it releases next month. But you’ve likely seen it all already in the trailers.

While working underground to fix a water main, Brooklyn plumbers Mario (Chris Pratt; Jurassic World and The LEGO Movie franchises) and brother Luigi (Charlie Day; It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia) are transported down a mysterious pipe and wander into a magical new world. But when the brothers are separated, Mario embarks on an epic quest to find Luigi. With the assistance of a Mushroom Kingdom resident Toad (Keegan-Michael Key; The Lion King) and some training from the strong-willed ruler of the Mushroom Kingdom, Princess Peach (Anya Taylor-Joy;The Queen’s Gambit), Mario taps into his own power.”

The Super Mario Bros. Movie releases in cinemas on 5 April. The film was originally slated to release slightly earlier in March but was then delayed and brought forward again to align its release date worldwide.
