The Walking Dead: Destinies, a new video game based on the hit AMC TV series, has officially been announced for consoles and PC. The game will allow players to reshape the story of the TV show and make decisions that lead to drastically different outcomes. A reveal trailer gives us a hint at how these mechanics will work, including killing off main characters or having the story go down unique paths that weren’t seen before.
The Walking Dead: Destinies will apparently feature 15 characters from the show with players controlling protagonist Rick Grimes, who was played by Andrew Lincoln in the TV series. It will mainly be based on the first four seasons and contain several locations and recurring characters from the series, though the power to deviate from the script and allow who can be saved or killed will be up to the player in the end.
The official description of The Walking Dead: Destinies reads:
“Get your first look at The Walking Dead: Destinies, the new choice-driven action-adventure game where you’ll have a chance to rewrite the story of The Walking Dead as you know it, reliving the biggest moments from seasons 1-4 of the TV show. Destinies is in development for PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch.”
No release date has been announced yet but it will be coming this year to PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PC and Nintendo Switch.
In related news, The Walking Dead actor Ross Marquand will be returning to South Africa for Comic Con Africa 2023 after having already visited Comic Con Cape Town earlier this year. Marquand played the fan-favourite character Aaron on the show and is also known for portraying Red Hood in both Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame.
