According to Walmart Canada, the Death Stranding release date is 30 June 2019. You might recall that the same Walmart previously leaked the existence of Rage 2 (amongst other yet to be announced titles) in May this year.

There is no way to tell if the release date is real, it could very likely be a placeholder, as Death Stranding creator, Hideo Kojima, has been very tight-lipped about when we can expect Norman Reedus and Mads Mikkelsen to grace our screens. However, a hilarious Twitter exchange follows between a customer who asked The Game Awards host, Geoff Keighley about the release date, Walmart Canada, and Rage 2 creator, Bethesda.

Maybe the Walmart employee doesn’t understand how these things work, maybe his is poking fun at the customer (with that name, who wouldn’t), or maybe the employee knows exactly what’s going down and he is leaking arguably one of the most anticipated release dates of 2019. Check out the response from Geoff Keighley and the official Rage 2 account next.

The Death Stranding release date is as much a mystery as its premise. So far we know it will include a star-studded cast, something about babies, and the promise that players will connect “in a fundamentally new way.” Also something about another world getting stranded on ours. We don’t care what it’s about, we will play it regardless. Kojima last talked about Death Stranding at the beginning of the year, and we can most likely expect a few words from home at The 2018 Game Awards.
