The Witcher 3 New-Gen Upgrade Gets December Release Date

After months of delays and rumours, CD Projekt Red has officially revealed a release date for the new-gen upgrade of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. According to a recent press release sent out by the company, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Complete Edition will release on 14 December 2022 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC. It will naturally be a free upgrade to those who already own the game on last-gen consoles.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Complete Edition will be available to purchase digitally across PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC upon release. It will come packed with both major expansions, Hearts of Stone and Blood & Wine, as well as all previously released DLC. A physical release date will be announced at a later stage. Those who already own the game on PS4 and Xbox One will be able to upgrade their versions at no extra cost.

In addition to the new-gen release, the PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch versions of the game will all receive a new updates featuring numerious additions and improvements, including content related to the Netflix show, including new weapons and armour for Geralt as well as alternative looks for select characters.

The new-gen upgrade promises to deliver “dozens of visual, performance and technical enhancements, including ray tracing support, faster loading times on consoles, a variety of mods integrated into the experience, and much more.”

CD Projekt Red is busy on a number of new projects, including a new saga of Witcher games, a sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 and a ground-up remake of The Witcher, the first game in the series. We can expect Cyberpunk 2077‘s first and only major expansion, Phantom Liberty, to release sometime in 2023 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC. It will not be coming to PS4 and Xbox One versions.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Complete Edition releases on 14 December 2022 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
