The Witcher 3 New-Gen Upgrades Showcased in Latest Trailer

Last week, developer CD Projekt Red officially announced that the new-gen upgrade for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Complete Edition will launch on 14 December 2022 as a free update for everyone who already owns the title on PS4 and Xbox One. We’ve finally received a trailer that highlights all the big changes coming to the free PS5 and Xbox Series X/S upgrade.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Complete Edition will get a standalone release for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC on 14 December. It’s also a free upgrade for owners of the last-gen versions. After seeing the latest trailer, it’s safe to say that the changes and additions being introduced in this upgrade are substantial.

Namely, the upgrade will now feature 4K textures and models, ray tracing features, improved and enhanced gameplay, a 60FPS mode, Cloud saving, a photo mode, integrated mods, cross-progression, changes to camera and UI, quest fixes, DLC from the Netflix series and much more. It’s a bit wild to think that all of these will essentially be a free upgrade as it seems more in line with a complete remaster.

CD Projekt Red posted two new videos (below). One is a short trailer showcasing The Witcher 3‘s new-gen upgrades while another 30-minute video goes into much greater detail about every single change and addition arriving in it.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt originally launched back in 2015 to glowing reviews, though many criticised the game’s lack of polish at launch as it suffered from numerous bugs and glitches. CD Projekt Red would remedy this (just as they have with Cyberpunk 2077) over time. The open-world RPG is now considered one of the greatest video games of all time. The Polish studio also announced its plans to remake The Witcher, the first game in the series, on Unreal Engine 5.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Complete Edition arrives on 14 December 2022 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
