CDPR has delayed the upcoming The Witcher 3 PS5 and Xbox Series X/S upgrade again. The game, which was originally meant to release in early 2021, was delayed to late 2021 and then pushed into Q1 of 2022. However, CD Projekt Red says that the studio needs more time with the upgrade and is now shifting the release date indefinitely.
For those of you who were hoping to replay Geralt’s adventure in the coming months, CDPR doesn’t have an exact date to share with you just yet.

Originally, the studio planned on releasing the game sometime in Q2. In a statement, they say this is no longer the case. According to the developer, the delay is actually not their fault. In fact, CDPR outsourced the development of the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S version of The Witcher 3 to Saber Interactive in Russia. Sadly, due to the ongoing Ukraine invasion, the game’s development hasn’t gone as planned.
CD Projekt Red has now taken the remainder of the work on themselves in order to get the upgrade ready for players.
We have decided to have our in-house development team conduct the remaining work on the next-gen version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. We are currently evaluating the scope of work to be done and thus have to postpone Q2 release until further notice. 1/2

We don’t know how long this development is going to take. Nor how badly the upgrade was affected by the ongoing Ukraine invasion. Hopefully, we will learn more in the coming weeks.
