Cyberpunk 2077 might be the biggest flop in video game history but that does not mean CD Projekt RED is a bad developer. The studio’s previous game, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is still held as one of the best games you can play and if you are crying over Cyberpunk 2077’s disaster, you might want to go back to slaying monsters as Geralt.
CD Projekt RED are giving users even more reason to replay The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt thanks to a new next-gen update announced for the RPG. According to lead PR manager Radek Grabowski, the next-gen update for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is headed our way in the second half of this year.

While we don’t know much about the update, we do know that CDPR is not working on the patch. Instead, Saber Interactive has taken the helm and are currently developing the next-gen upgrade for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Saber Interactive worked on the Switch port. This was already announced last September during a conference call where CDPR president Adam Kicinski said:
“Regarding The Witcher 3 and its next-gen version: this project is developed outside, with our proven partner who had delivered the 4K version of The Witcher 3 and The Witcher 3 for Switch, so they already know our technology very well.
We asked them to prepare the next-gen port, and as I said during my presentation, we expect a full next-gen experience, with great next-gen features, but it doesn’t interfere with next-gen development of CP, which is being done internally by the CP team, and we’re confirming that CP will be released in the next-gen version.”
Keep in mind that CDPR are also working on a Cyberpunk 2077 next-gen update which was recently pushed back to late 2021 to make way for the two large updates the studio has planned. Of which the first update released earlier this week.
There isn’t much information to provide in terms of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt upgrade and whether or not it will completely tweak the game or simply offer a visual boost in performance. However, we can’t wait to go back and replay the game on PS5.
