The Witcher 4 2025 CD Projekt Red Release

The Witcher 4 Will Feature Geralt But He’s Not The Focus This Time

The Witcher 4, or otherwise known by its working title Project Polaris at CD Projekt Red, is still a few years away from release, meaning we have very little information to go on at the moment. However, the voice actor behind Geralt of Rivia, the growly protagonist of the first three games, confirmed that the character will be part of the next game but he won’t be the focus this time.

As spotted by Games Radar, Geralt voice actor Doug Cockle was interviewed on the Fall Damage YouTube channel recently about his involvement in The Witcher 4. Surprisingly, he was able to confirm that Geralt will be featured in the next game, though he won’t necessarily be the focus or the main character, for that matter. “Witcher 4 has been announced. I can’t say anything about it,” said Cockle. “What we know is that Geralt will be part of the game. We just don’t know how much, and the game won’t focus on Geralt, so it’s not about him this time.”

When asked who will be the focus of The Witcher 4, Cockle claimed that he didn’t know. “I have not seen any script yet. I couldn’t tell you if I did. This is the thing, so I could be lying through my teeth. But I’m not, or am I?”

Last month, CD Projekt Red revealed that The Witcher 4 was already in an ‘advanced’ state of development with at least 400 developers on the project, making it the main priority at the Polish studio. Considering the backlash from Cyberpunk 2077 for rushing its development, it’s likely that CD Projekt Red will want to take its time on this title. Analysts even predict that it might skip a release on the current generation altogether and only launch on next-gen consoles. Either way, we’re in for a very long wait before we find out how Geralt’s story continues.
