The Wolf Among Us 2 Telltale Games 2023 First Trailer

The Wolf Among Us 2 Reportedly Facing Development Issues and Possible Cancellation

The anticipated The Wolf Among Us 2 from Telltale Games is reportedly facing major development issues and potential cancellation. The sequel was announced back in 2022 with an original release window of 2023, though it was later hit by a massive delay. Fans suspected the worst might be happening and according to a new report, the game apparently isn’t in good shape right now.

The report comes from Reddit user Fabulous_Abrocoma_41 who recently deleted their account for unknown reasons, possibly giving this leak a bit more credibility as to cover their tracks. According to the user, The Wolf Among Us 2 is facing major development issues at Telltale Games due to budget constraints. The user’s sources claim that the studio had been struggling with funding for a while and there are currently discussions happening about whether it would be wise to realistically continue development.

“I’ve heard from a source close to the development team at Telltale Games that The Wolf Among Us 2 is in serious trouble due to budget constraints,” said the user. “According to what I’ve been told, the studio has been struggling with funding for a while, and there are internal discussions about whether they can realistically continue development.” It seems like a potential cancellation is on the table.

The rumour adds:

“The source mentioned that while the project hasn’t been officially cancelled yet, they’re at a critical point where they might have no choice but to shelve it. There’s a lot of pressure from within the company to keep things quiet while they try to figure out how to move forward, but the situation looks grim. Obviously, this hasn’t been confirmed publicly, and things could still change, but it doesn’t sound good. Has anyone else heard anything similar?”

The history of Telltale Games is a sad one. The company was forced to initiate a “majority studio closure” back in 2018, firing most of its staff and only leaving a skeleton crew behind. LCG Entertainment later acquired many Telltale assets and revived the studio in name while retaining most of its previous licenses. The Wolf Among Us 2 was a good sign that Telltale might be getting back on its feet again, though this new report does damper those celebrations.
