The game was revealed as a Kickstarter with various goals the developer wanted to achieve before it was announced for specific platforms. The base funding for The Wonderful 101 remaster was $50,000. When it hit $250,000 it would release for Switch, and $500,000 it would release for PC and PS4. It has since hit $927,000 confirming the game will release on all original platforms.

Platinum Games have since added a new goal to The Wonderful 101 Kickstarter. At $1 million they will add a “Time-Attack” mode, at $1.5 million “a new 2D side-scrolling adventure starring a young hero” called “Luka’s First Mission” will be added. There’s no sign of an Xbox One version of the game on the strategic plan but according to game director Hideki Kamiya, it could happen in the future.

The Wonderful 101 Kickstarter will run from 3 February 2020 to 6 March 2020 and if successful, the game will launch in April alongside whatever modes are unlocked throughout the funding process. Platinum Games also have plans to self-publish the game which was originally published by Nintendo. In a message to supporters, Platinum Games said;
