These Stalker 2 Screenshots Show Off The Power of Unreal Engine 5

Developer GSC Game World have shared five new screenshots for their upcoming first-person shooter, Stalker 2: Heart of Chernobyl, which demonstrates the impressive power of Unreal Engine 5. In addition to the new images, we also received plenty of new information about the game, from gameplay mechanics to the length of the entire experience.

Thanks to new information in the latest issue of PC Gamer magazine, GSC Game World were able to share new details about Stalker 2. It will reportedly feature significant survival elements, where players will be required to maintain their stamina and keep the main character well fed. Hunger can lead to reduced abilities and a lack of stamina, making gameplay a bit more challenging. Once you’ve eaten, you’ll be able to cover long distances more quickly and efficiently.

Hunger won’t be the only thing you’ll need to worry about in Stalker 2. If the main character doesn’t sleep for prolonged periods of time, it will start to affect their performance. This will cause a loss of stamina as well as hallucinations. Consuming energy drinks are a temporary fix, but you’ll need to keep a close eye on your character’s sleep deprivation to survive.

GSC Game World also revealed that the game’s length will roughly be around 100 hours, which likely includes side content.

While on your travels in the open world, you might encounter mutated deer. Their mutations apparently give them some sort of armor buff, meaning you’ll have to try a little harder to find vulnerable spots on the animal. As a particularly nasty side-effect of the radiation, deer will have psychic abilities such as being able to conjure other mutants or even make clones of themselves through illusions.

Finally, enemy factions were briefly touched upon. Stalker 2 will feature several factions that players can side with, which will likely have an impact on your standings with rival factions. The Exclusion Zone will feature the Warta faction, which is basically the game’s police force. They’re attempting to harness scientific discoveries in the Exclusion Zone for the “betterment of humanity.”
