The First Descendant is expected to launch on 2 July and it seems that excited players have jumped into the wrong game thinking it launched early. The 2016 game called The Descendant has raked in over 128,000 in the past week due to the growing hype around The First Descendant. Most of the players have likely downloaded the game thinking it was the upcoming shooter created by Nexon.
According to SteamDB, 2016 The Descendant game was sitting with around 1000+ players on 22 June. This jumped to 30,000 on 23 June and continued to climb to 128,000 on 26 June.
The jump in players is also a result of The Descendant being a free game. Well, you can download and play the first episode for free. The First Descendant is also free so the mistake was bound to happen.
However, I am sure Microids Indie are enjoying the uptake in players. We just hope that some of them end up supporting the game and maybe purchasing it.
As for The First Descendant, it is expected to launch on 2 July. The free-to-play game an action shooter with RPG elements. My time with the beta back in September revealed the game has been heavily influenced by the likes of Destiny 2. It features 4-player co-op as well as unique characters, weapons and an element-based combat system to master.
You can watch the latest trailer for the game below and wishlist it on Steam here. The game is launching for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
