THQ Nordic has announced a digital showcase planned for August where the publisher is set to detail some of the ongoing projects and titles currently underway.
THQ Nordic will host the second annual showcase on August 12th 2022 and will showcase “several, brand new games, expanding the company’s portfolio into new genres with both licensed and original gaming experiences”. The showcase will also present titles that are currently in development such as Outcast 2 – A New Beginning and Jagged Alliance 3.
Publisher-specific showcases are becoming more common in lieu of E3 announcements, even before the world was hit with the pandemic. These showcases have been both digital and physical which allows publishers to give more spotlight to their titles. This is also the latest digital showcase to appear in the wake of E3 canceling its digital presentation for the second year in a row.
“We will devote all our energy and resources to delivering a revitalized physical and digital E3 experience next summer,” it said. “Whether enjoyed from the show floor or your favourite devices, the 2023 showcase will bring the community, media, and industry back together in an all-new format and interactive experience.”
Other gaming showcases such as Geoff Keighley’s Summer Games Fest will still go ahead but it is yet to be confirmed as to which publishers will be signing on to join. Microsoft is rumoured to be hosting their own showcase in June as well, as reported by GamesBeat journalist Jeff Grubb, in a video where he explained that Microsoft is currently talking to various publishers about hosting their showcase. This has not been confirmed however and should be treated as pure speculation.
The show will begin 12.00 AM PDT / 3 PM EDT / 8 PM BST / 21:00 SAST / 10 PM EST on August 12th.
