Tomb Raider Reloaded

Tomb Raider Reloaded is a Roguelike Mobile Game That Looks Pretty Cool

Crystal Dynamics has announced a new mobile game set in the Tomb Raider universe starring Lara Croft. Tomb Raider Reloaded is Lara’s first attempt into the roguelike genre and is a mobile game for iOS and Android. Crystal Dynamics claims that the game is set in Lara Croft’s “Survivor” trilogy timeline and sees her run across various tombs in a top-down RPG-like game.

Tomb Raider Reloaded is launching on 14 February for iOS and Android. It will also be available through Netflix’s gaming platform. In a nutshell, Lara Croft enters a tomb where she has to survive deadly monsters, dodge traps and steal the treasure. The locations in the game are based on iconic past areas we explored in her main game series including Vilcabambathe Lost Valley, and St. Francis’ Folly.

Crystal Dynamics says that Tomb Raider Reloaded features “ever-changing rooms” and gameplay modifiers. Players will be able to craft their own weapons, make runes which buff Lara’s abilities and upgrade various cosmetic features along the way. Every run you take on will offer a unique experience with a new location, enemies, items and gear. When you die, the gameplay changes again.

Lara Croft is also voiced by Keeley Hawes in Tomb Raider Reloaded. She voiced Lara Croft in other iconic games in the series including Tomb Raider: Anniversary, Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light and more.

The Netflix launch for Tomb Raider Reloaded also seems to be a push for the company to make Lara Croft more popular. Netflix has already announced an anime in the works based on the Tomb Raider series. Amazon is also working on a live-action series. We also know that Crystal Dynamics is working on a main entry video game built on Unreal Engine 5.

It seems the months ahead are going to be filled with Lara and it is definitely an exciting time. Perhaps Square Enix would think twice next time before they sell an IP for pennies.
