A mysterious countdown timer has appeared on the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater site, counting down to a potential reveal set to take place on 4 March 2025. This follows a rumour from last week which claimed that Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4, remasters of the beloved original titles, was in the works and an announcement was imminent.
Rumours of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 began with a report from leaker eXtas1s which claimed that the title would be shadow dropped at an Xbox showcase in June. Adding more fuel to the fire, professional skateboarder Tyshawn Jones accidentally let slip that a new remastered Tony Hawk game was on the way, leading many to believe that Jones meant Pro Skater 3 + 4. The countdown timer which appeared on the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater site this weekend could possibly have a remaster waiting for us at the end of the timer.
However, there’s some speculation among the community that the announcement will actually be for a remaster of Tony Hawk’s Underground games, which are just as nostalgic as the Pro Skater titles. This stems from the fact that developer Vicarious Visions once pitched Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 but Activision apparently rejected it. Unless the publisher had a change of heart sometime over the last few years, it’s possible that there might be something else revealed soon.
While the golden age of skateboarding video games has fizzled out since the PS1/PS2 era, there’s been a high demand for the sport to make a comeback in the gaming world. Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 proved to be a critical hit for Activision, so naturally it would only make sense to continue the trend of remastering or remaking older acclaimed titles in the Tony Hawk’s library. Luckily, we only have to wait until 4 March to find out what Activision has cooking, be it a remaster or a completely new title.
