Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket

Trading Mechanics Detailed For Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket

You’ll soon be able to trade cards with your friends in Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket. The Pokémon Company confirmed the feature is coming to the popular app alongside a new set of cards. The announcement didn’t say anything about a set release date, so just expect it in the weeks ahead.

The trading functionality in Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket will have some limitations. You will need to be friends with the player first. You will also only be able to trade cards of the same rarity. So you can’t trade rare EX cards for common cards.

The app will also limit the cards you can trade from 1 – 4 diamonds and only single-star full art cards. So you can’t trade any rarities over single-star cards. No double stars or crown cards are permitted.

Lastly, trading will consume a certain item. It is unclear what this item is at this time. However, fans suspect the item is the free box, which is claimable in the store daily. Currently, this box has no purpose at all in the game. At launch, only cards from the Genetic Apex and Mythical Island booster packs can be traded.

The Pokémon Company says it will monitor the launch of this feature and the feedback players provide. Things might change depending on how this all rolls out.

Again, there’s no release date for the feature, but at least we know it is on the way. Hopefully, the feature will usher in even more opportunities for players to trade like a Global Trade System. This GTS has been popular in the Pokémon series where players can list Pokémon online and ask for an exchange. It is likely the best way to obtain Pokémon you don’t have. Sadly, GTS is restricted in South Africa. This is why the country doesn’t have the mobile Pokémon Home app available on iOS and Android.
