Sony is set to kick off its PlayStation Showcase event this Thursday and if you’re excited then you are not alone. It has been a long time coming. The company has not updated fans on its developments since September 2020. Sure, we have seen a State of Play event every now and then but a PlayStation Showcase is the big deal. These streams play host to massive new PS5 game reveals and more.

The PlayStation Showcase is just days away and already industry sources have begun to spill the beans on what Sony has in store for us. Industry good guy and reliable source David Jaffe recently shared some of his information on what Sony would reveal during the stream. According to Jaffe, the company is prepping to showcase two massive PS5 exclusives during the event later this week. In a video, Jaffe says that he knows of two games that represent “the Sony gamers love and champion about”. These two games represent the Sony first-party experience gamers enjoy and get excited over.

Jaffe continues to explore his knowledge of the event. Even though he knows exactly what these games are, he has left any and all hints out of revealing the lineup. Of course, this is to keep things exciting. However, Jaffe also says that there is a third game that is a “hell of a choice”. In a conversation with a “friend” Jaffe chats about this third game that by the sound of things, is going to be quite a shocking announcement. The conversation refers to a lot of “blanks” that Jaffe has left out of the video for obvious reasons.

Friend: Do you know if they are showing “blank” during the show this week

Jaffe: I don’t know that. All I really know is them showing off “blank” and “blank” (referring to the two mentioned games above)

Friend: Yeah, I figured that. I bet they will also show off “blank”

Jaffe says his friend then mentions one game but also dropped info on a game that he had never heard about before. 

Jaffe: Wait, they are making a “blank”. Dude, who is making that game?

Friend: (friend mentions studio) – It is pretty insane

Jaffe: Wow, that is a hell of a choice

Jaffe also says that fans should keep their expectations in check. He can’t confirm whether or not the game that he describes as a “hell of a choice” is being shown off during the PlayStation Showcase. He says that the fact the game exists and they are making it will “blow people’s minds”.

Of course, we can only speculate what these games are at the moment. We kinda expect to see a God of War Ragnarok gameplay reveal during the event. However, the rest is still a mystery. I am hoping we see something FromSoftware related be it a Bloodborne remaster or the PS5 exclusive they have cooking. Perhaps there is a Silent Hill game hidden in there somewhere? We also might see The Last of Us Remake or perhaps The Last of Us Part II multiplayer reveal.
