Valve has been relatively quiet when it comes to CS: GO after the conclusion of the FACEIT London Major. In the early hours of the morning, however, Valve decided to unleash two new CS: GO maps into Casual Matchmaking and made some other significant changes as well, including the removal of Canals from Competitive Matchmaking.

New CS: GO Maps

The biggest additions in the latest update have to be the new CS: GO maps in the form of Biome and Zub-Zero. Both these community maps are now available in the Casual Matchmaking as part of group Sigma. Then, we also see Canals being removed from Competitive Matchmaking while Austria is added in to Competitive. Austria also gets moved to group Delta in official Casual Matchmaking.

However, that’s not all. Since the update got released in the early hours of the morning, Shipped and Insertion are no longer available in official matchmaking. Lastly, Valve also shared some screenshots of the new maps, which you can view below.

Additional Changes

There are quite a few significant changes in the latest CS: GO update apart from the two new maps. Possibly the biggest change is an adjustment that aims to reduce the impact of a pistol round win. Then, we also see some adjustments to the Tec9, CZ75a and more. Check out all the changes below.

  • Adjusted the start-of-half economy with the goal of reducing the impact of a pistol round win on subsequent rounds.
  • In Competitive Matchmaking, both teams are now considered to start the half with a one-round ‘losing streak’ that is reset following a round win. Instead of $1400, the Round 1 loser receives $1900, then $2400 for a subsequent loss, etc.
  • The start-of-half losing streak can be adjusted via “mp_starting_losses”

  • Adjusted the CZ75a to encourage semi-automatic fire at medium and long ranges.
  • increased recoil and fire inaccuracy
  • slightly improved accuracy recovery rate

  • Adjustments to make the weapon more forgiving at medium rates of fire.
  • reduced fire inaccuracy
  • slightly improved accuracy recovery rate

Price Reductions:

  • SG553 price reduced to $2750
  • AUG price reduced to $3150

  • Added a “VOIP Positional” audio setting. When this setting is enabled, in-game voice audio will be played from the position the player is standing at.

  • Enabled mouse bindings for voice chat to work in end of match scoreboard.
  • Fixed backlog of async events in scoreboard causing performance problems during gameplay.
