Silent Hill seems to be gaming’s worst-kept secret at this stage. Rumours and reports have been popping up as early as August last year about a new Silent Hill game in development. At first, rumours claimed it may be a PS5 exclusive with Sony at the helm helping develop the game.

Then in early February, series composer teased that an announcement my arrive in mid-2021. Now, Bloober Team, the studio behind The Medium could be working with Konami on a Silent Hill project. The news arrives alongside an interview with Bloober Team CEO Piotr Babieno who suggests that the studio’s next horror game is from an existing IP and in partnership with a “very famous” publisher.

Keep in mind that GamesIndusty.Biz has not confirmed this rumour yet. It is pure speculation and should be taken with a grain of salt. However, this report does add credibility to the previous rumours there could be two Silent Hill games in development at this time.

Back in early 2020, GameInformer editor (who has often proved to be a reliable source) called the two Silent Hill games rumours credible. This gave fans some hope that a Silent Hill reboot, which is apparently the PS5 exclusive, is in development and the revival, which Bloober Team are “working on” is also real.

Of course,  Konami has shut down all these rumours. Even after the series composer teased the announcement and the video was taken offline, the developer claims they had nothing to do with it. In an email to Rely on Horror, a Konami representative said:

“We’re aware of all the rumors and reports but can confirm that they are not true .  know it’s not the answer your fans may want to hear … It’s not to say we are completely closing the door on the franchise, just not in the way it is being reported.”

With so many rumours floating around we don’t know what to think. We are going to just have to play the waiting game and see how things turn out. If the announcement is coming then it may arrive in June/July during one of the many summer gaming festivals in the works.
