Ubisoft is obviously feeling extra generous this week after the fire that damaged the ancient cathedral of Notre-Dame broke out and caused millions in damage. Ubisoft announces yesterday that the video game studio will be pledging €500,000 towards the restoration of the cathedral.
Beyond that, for the next week, up until 25 April 2019, you will be able to download Assassin’s Creed Unity for free. This Assassin’s Creed adventure will let players explore the late 18th-century Paris during the French Revolution. While you are at it, you will be able to pop into the famous Notre-Dame de Paris and see it for yourself. Make sure you post selfies on Facebook so everyone can see you’ve been there, m’kay.
Keep in mind that once you have added Assassin’s Creed Unity to your Uplay account, it is yours forever and it will not expire. You just have to do this before 25 April 2019. Assassin’s Creed Unity was plagued with bugs at launch and suffered some harsh feedback but Ubisoft has since fixed it up and it makes for a decent experience.

Ubisoft says in a statement that “When we created Assassin’s Creed Unity, we developed an even closer connection with this incredible city and its landmarks – one of the most notable elements of the game was the extraordinary recreation of Notre-Dame.” It goes on to say “Video games can enable us to explore places in ways we never could have otherwise imagined. We hope, with this small gesture, we can provide everyone an opportunity to appreciate our virtual homage to this monumental piece of architecture.”
