Ubisoft Says The Prince of Persia: Sands of Time Remake is Still Happening

Prince of Persia: Sands of Time Remake was announced back last year. Ubisoft originally planned on releasing the game in early 2021 but it was delayed due to the pandemic and the massive visual changes undertaken by the studio. This being after the remake was highly criticised for looking dated. The visuals looked old, facial animations weren’t all that great and the general “remake” approach reeked of PS2 console hardware.

Even though we haven’t heard anything about the game since February this year, Ubisoft says that the remake is still happening.

Back in February, Ubisoft Pune, the India-based studio announced an indefinite delay as the team needed more time to rework the game. Now, almost a year after the was meant to release, the studio has assured fans that it is still coming.

In a tweet, the official Prince of Persia account shared an update on the game’s development. The studio says that development on the project is still underway. The studio has also been inspired and motivated by the feedback provided by fans. They plan on sharing another update in the future.

So at least the game isn’t cancelled, right? Ubisoft hasn’t had the smoothest development roadmap over the past two years. The company originally planned on releasing three large games by the end of March 2021. This included Far Cry 6, Prince of Persia and Riders Republic. However, issues brought on by the covid 19 pandemic delayed all three games.

Far Cry 6 and Riders Republic were only just released this October. Prince of Persia is still in limbo. We can only hope that 2022 brings some good news for developers who are struggling to produce games while working from home.
