Ubisoft to Reportedly Release Assassin’s Creed Games Every Six Months

Ubisoft is reportedly planning to release new Assassin’s Creed games every six months. According to a new report from Insider Gaming’s Tom Henderson, Ubisoft is looking to ramp up its output of games in the franchise which includes new entries and a rumoured remake of Black Flag. Assassin’s Creed Shadows, the next major entry in the series, is scheduled to release in early 2025 after being delayed out of 2024.

Speaking on the Xbox Two + One Podcast, Henderson talked a bit about Ubisoft’s release plans for upcoming Assassin’s Creed games. In general, the leaker says Ubisoft has a “strong” lineup which includes a new Ghost Recon game, Far Cry 7, the new Rayman game and a Far Cry multiplayer extraction shooter. However, the company is also apparently banking heavily on the future of the Assassin’s Creed franchise as it reportedly plans to double down on how many games are released each year – more specifically, every six months.

“They’ve got Assassin’s Creed Shadows, they’ve also got Assassin’s Creed Invictus next year, Assassin’s Creed Hexe, Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag remake, and they plan to do a new Assassin’s Creed every six months or so for the next ten years, I believe,” said Henderson on the podcast.

This is in stark contrast to the past schedule of Assassin’s Creed releases which started off as annual releases before taking two-year breaks between entries following Origins. Three years had passed between 2020’s Valhalla and 2023’s Mirage, though it looks like Ubisoft wants to keep the ball rolling a bit faster on the schedule. This might also have to do with the planned Assassin’s Creed Infinity, a hub which aims to house all new projects in the series.

Ubisoft already confirmed back in June this year that multiple remakes in the franchise are currently in development which seemingly includes a full remake of Black Flag, a fan-favourite entry and one of the best games in the series, depending on who you ask.
