Right now we don’t know which Prince of Persia game Ubisoft is remaking. However, according to the retail listing, it seems to be the 2008 cel-shaded version which released on PS3 and Xbox 360. Journalist Liam Robertson claims the company was apparently working on a 2D remake of the original 1989 game. According to Liam, Ubisoft had tentative plans for the series focusing on the classic.

Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier indicated that Ubisoft had intended to surprise fans with a reveal of a remake soon. Of course, there’s very little to be surprised by now that the game leaked.

Still, we don’t know which version of the Prince of Persia Remake players can expect. Ubisoft released multiple games over the years and rebooted the series a handful of times. We have the original 1989 version, the Sands of Time trilogy and the cel-shaded game.

The company plans on hosting a second Ubisoft Forward event in September. Hopefully, players will see the game announced during the event. Ubisoft still has some tricks up its sleeves for fans. While we know Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla, and Watch Dogs: Legions lead the publishers 2020 lineup, we have yet to see games like Gods and Monsters and this rumoured remake.
