Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection Releases Next Month For PS5

Sony has announced the official release date for the Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection remaster. The game, which includes both Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, is headed to PS5 on 28 January 2022.

Gamers can actually start pre-ordering the remaster today as the PlayStation Store listing is now live. For newcomers to the series, this Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection will cost your R899. However, Sony is offering an upgrade program for those who own PS4 versions of either Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End or Uncharted: The Lost Legacy.

The upgrade will cost you $10 or R180 and you are entitled to it if you own either PS4 game. You don’t have to own both digitally in order to benefit from the free PS5 upgrade. So if you only purchased Uncharted: The Lost Legacy on PS4, you can pay the upgrade fee and grab the remaster that includes both games. In addition, there is a disc upgrade plan that entitles disc owners to upgrade to the remastered collection for the same $10 / R180. However, players will have to insert their original disc into their PS5 every time they want to play the digitally downloaded remaster.

Of course, there is a catch. Sony says that players who own Uncharted 4 through PlayStation Plus will not be able to upgrade to the PS5 remaster collection. Sadly, users will have to purchase the full game again for R899.

Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection comes with a handful of enhancements and features which are mostly visual. Sony detailed the various render modes that include a 120FPS mode, 4K mode and more:

  • Fidelity Mode – For those of you who have a 4K display and want super sharp resolution above all else to enjoy the stunning environments and details the Uncharted series is known for, select Fidelity Mode and play in native 4K resolution with a 30fps target framerate.
  • Performance Mode – Performance Mode targets a 60 FPS frame rate.
  • Performance+ Mode – If you’re all about the smoothest gameplay possible and don’t mind a resolution drop, try out our first ever Performance+ Mode which targets 120fps* at a 1080p resolution.

*Requires a compatible 120hz display.

Sony has also detailed the various 3D audio enhancements and DualSense features players can expect saying:

Thanks to the power of the PS5 console, the load time is near instant so you can jump into the action faster than Nate or Chloe can draw their weapons (which, if you’ve seen Chloe take on a band of mercenaries before, is pretty fast). Enjoy Spatial 3D Audio* and know where the shots are coming from and immerse yourself in the ambience of the locations across both games. With the DualSense wireless controller’s haptic feedback and adaptive triggers, we’ve fine-tuned the rumble and resistance here: feeling the 4×4 vehicles roll along in your hands or landing a punch and then rope swinging to safety has never been so rewarding.

Sadly, the multiplayer mode won’t be included in the remaster. Sony has kept the Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection as a single-player experience. As for the PC release, we don’t know what the release date is yet but Sony claims they will announce it soon. You can pre-order the game here.
