Uncharted Movie Production on Hold… Again

After suffering multiple delays due to losing six directors, the Uncharted Movie finally began production last month after picking up Venom Director Ruben Fleischer. However, the movie has been put on hold once again but this time it is not due to “artistic differences” or “missing directors” but because of the coronavirus. Variety revealed that PlayStation Productions have put the movie on hold for another six weeks due to concerns over the spread of COVID-19.

According to Variety, filming was meant to kick off in Berlin next month but that will no longer be the case. Shooting has been postponed for six weeks and could be pushed back further if things don’t clear up in time. It is unclear whether or not this will affect the film’s 5 March 2021 release date but it will most likely cause a delay in the film’s release.

The Uncharted Movie has suffered multiple delays over the past few years including a complete script rewrite and losing three directors on the project weeks apart. The only person that has stayed on since the announcement is Spider-Man actor Tom Holland who was excited to work alongside Mark Wahlberg and Antonio Banderas.

The Uncharted movie is not the first film to suffer delays due to the coronavirus (COVID-19). It joins the likes of Matrix 4, Fantastic Beasts 3, The Batman, Disney’s Shang-Chi, The Little Mermaid, The Last Dual, Jurassic World: Dominion, Stranger Things 4 and many more.

The Uncharted Movie is being produced by PlayStation Productions and Sony. We will have to see what happens in the coming months with this situation.
