Supermassive Games is reportedly developing an Until Dawn remake for PS5, according to a leaker. The remake will apparently come to current-gen consoles, and it had been in development for quite some time. No other details were provided on this leak.
Supermassive Games first released Until Dawn in 2015 exclusively for PS4. The story-driven horror game made clever use of the DualShock 4’s motion controls at the time, and was praised for its engaging, branching narrative with several unexpected twists and turns, as well as its motion-capture performances from Hollywood actors that included Rami Malek and Hayden Panettiere.

The leak comes from AccountNGT, who previously revealed details on Star Wars Eclipse before its announcement. According to the leaker, Supermassive Games had been hard at work on an Until Dawn remake for current-gen consoles for “some time”, though no reveal window was given:
“From what I’ve heard from several separate sources, in addition to their new games, Supermassive Games is reportedly working on a remake of Until Dawn for some time that will be coming to current-gen consoles. I will try to find out more about this potential project.”
This is a rather strange remake considering that the original game released around seven years ago, and many still agree that it has aged fairly well too. The only reason why a remake might be on the table is if Supermassive Games plans to release it on multiple platforms such as Xbox and PC, given that the original was a PS4 exclusive.
Judging by AccountNGT’s wording, “current-gen consoles” implies just that.
Supermassive Games are also currently working on their Dark Pictures Anthology horror series of games, which are multiplatform. Three have been released so far: Man of Medan, Little Hope and House of Ashes, with six more apparently planned for the next few years.
