Pokemon Presents Event 27 February Nintendo

Upcoming Pokemon Presents Won’t Have Switch 2 Exclusives – Report

A Pokemon Presents showcase is rumoured to take place on Pokemon Day this year on 27 February. While the event hasn’t been confirmed by Nintendo, many are expecting it to happen as it has been on schedule since 2021. A report from journalist Jeff Grubb claims that fans won’t see any new Pokemon game that will be exclusive to Switch 2 at the showcase.

Speaking on a recent episode of his Game Mess podcast, Jeff Grubb spoke about the rumoured upcoming Pokemon Presents next month. He claimed that everything we’ll see at the showcase will be positioned as Switch 1 games, though they will obviously work on Switch 2 as well. However, he tempered expectations by letting fans know that there will be no Switch 2 exclusives announced at the showcase.

This lines up with previous Game Freak leaks indicating that the upcoming Pokemon Legends Z-A will be a Switch 1-only release. Through backwards compatibility, players will still be able to play the game on Switch 2 if they wish, though it won’t be an exclusive to Nintendo’s new hardware. The Pokemon spin-off game’s release date was recently leaked by Amazon UK, so we know it will release on 15 August 2025.

“I did hear that everything in that Pokemon [Presents] will be positioned as ‘These games are Switch 1 games’,” said Grubb on the podcast. “They will work on Switch 2, but there will not be anything that is obviously made for Switch 2.”

Nintendo has yet to officially announce its next-gen console despite previous rumours heavily suggesting that it would air today. While the day is technically not over depending on time zones, others suspect that Nintendo might unveil the console tomorrow instead. If not, then we’ll have to wait another week or so for the reveal.

In the meantime, keep up with all of our coverage on the Switch 2 leaks and updates right here.
