Valheim Gets Xbox Series X/S Release Date For March

It felt like it has taken forever but Valheim is finally getting a console release on Xbox Series X/S. The game, which found its fame during the covid-19 pandemic, will finally release on 14 March. It will also release on Xbox Game Pass meaning you can jump into the survival game without actually buying it.

Valheim has been available on PC since February 2021. During its early access stage, the game skyrocketed in sales surpassing 7 million copies sold in four months. Even though it was successful, the developers at Iron Gate Studios took their time developing it and the game is in fact still in early access.

In November last year, Valheim got its first major content drop in the form of a new biome called Mistlands. The studio has also confirmed that its next biome, the volcanic Ashlands is currently in development. However, this expansion is still in pre-production.

At launch on Xbox, Valheim will include all the current updates and content. This includes the latest Mistlands biome. The studio should support the game alongside the PC version with Ashlands whenever it releases. The game isn’t even ready for version 1.0 release yet so you’ll have to just bare with the rough edges and lack of content while it grows.

Iron Gate Studio says that Valheim on Xbox Series X/S will have cross-play support with the Steam version.
