Valve has confirmed that the Steam Deck will not have any exclusive games. As stated in a recently published FAQ, the company believes that since the device is technically a PC, having exclusives wouldn’t make sense since it should just play PC games. This also comes in light of rumours suggesting that Valve were working on a Steam Deck showcase game called Citadel.
Valve’s updated FAQ page includes a section that specifically talks about exclusivity. They believe that the Steam Deck should be treated as a PC, therefore it would not make sense for there to be any exclusive games to the platform. As an easy access point to your Steam library, the portable device is essentially just that and Valve doesn’t seem to be phased with it necessarily “competing” with other consoles.

As detailed by the FAQ, when asked about whether or not the Steam Deck would have any exclusives, Valve responded:
“No, that doesn’t make much sense to us. It’s a PC and it should just play games like a PC.”
In the same FAQ, Valve reiterated the system’s hardware capabilities, UI and availability. Unfortunately, we still don’t have an exact release date for it, but they still seem to be on track with a February 2022 release window. Players who want to take their Steam library on the go via a portable device would find the most use for the Steam Deck, but Valve is also hoping it will reach more players who don’t have the means of purchasing otherwise expensive PC components to play their libraries.
Steam Deck will be available in February 2022, though availability details will be discussed closer to launch.
