Paradox Interactive has re-revealed Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines 2 with a new developer and fall 2024 release window target. The long-in-development sequel will now be handled by The Chinese Room, the studio behind Dear Esther and Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture. It made a splash during PAX West over the weekend, showcasing a brand new trailer alongside the big news.
According to Paradox Interactive, Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines 2 will receive new gameplay in January 2024 with plans to release sometime in fall 2024. As mentioned before, The Chinese Room will be developing the sequel after it was originally taken away from former studio Hardsuit Labs. Updates on the game have been slow since 2021 (apart from an incorrect release date listing last month and pre-orders being refunded back in June) so it’s good to see it finally being put back in the spotlight with a confirmed developer this time.

Ed Daly, studio director at The Chinese Room, provided a statement on the development of Bloodlines 2:
“Vampire: The Masquerade holds a special place in our hearts. The story world’s dark setting filled with intricate narratives built on top of modern society perfectly fits our studio’s catalogue. Bloodlines 2 is our most ambitious project to date. Fans of the franchise have been eagerly awaiting this game, and we are up to the challenge. We are bringing more than 15 years of award-winning experience to the project, creating a game that honours the legacy of its predecessor while bringing its gameplay to the modern era.”
Sean Greaney, VP of World of Darkness at Paradox, added:
“We were immediately impressed when we saw The Chinese Room’s proposal for Bloodlines 2. They have a true passion for the source material, making them ideal partners to develop a story in the Vampire: The Masquerade setting that resonates with players. We are committed to making Bloodlines 2 a success. Bringing on a studio that shares our vision was critical to helping us achieve these goals. Fans of the franchise can rest assured knowing that Bloodlines 2 is in good hands, and we will have more to share with you in January.”
Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines 2 will now release in fall 2024 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC. Check out the brand new trailer below:
