Venom 3 has officially entered its pre-production phase. Eddie Brock/Venom actor Tom Hardy confirmed the news on a recent social media post but didn’t offer any more details other than the confirmation. Sony Pictures is distributing and producing the sequel to 2021’s Venom: Let There Be Carnage and it will be directed by Kelly Marcel.
Hardy recently uploaded a behind-the-scenes video of the first Venom movie to his Instagram, showing his harrowing transformation into the popular Marvel symbiote. While the video itself isn’t exactly news, the caption attached with the video reads “Whilst working on V3 [pre-production].”

Hardy will once again reprise his role as the titular character Venom though details are still unknown about the plot of the movie. There has been some speculation online including the possibility of Andrew Garfield appearing in the movie as Peter Parker/Spider-Man after reprising his Amazing Spider-Man role in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Some fans theorise that Garfield’s universe and Hardy’s universe are one and the same.
Fans also think that Venom will have to contend with the multiverse and could meet versions of himself from alternate universes since it was already established in No Way Home and Let There Be Carnage that Eddie Brock did jump through the multiverse after Doctor Strange’s memory-wiping spell for Tom Holland’s Peter Parker backfired, resulting in a convergence of several Spider-Man movie universes. This allowed both Garfield and Tobey Maguire to return alongside plenty of familiar villains.
Venom 3 will be directed by Kelly Marcel who previously wrote the first two movies. The first movie was directed by Ruben Fleischer, best known for Zombieland and Uncharted, while Let There Be Carnage was helmed by Andy Serkis, best known for the motion capture and voice work of The Lord of the Rings‘ Gollum and the director of Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle.
Venom 3 doesn’t have a confirmed release date yet but it’s likely to arrive in October 2024.
