Venom 3 - What's Next For Everyone's Favourite Symbiote?

Venom: The Last Dance is The Final Venom Movie

Venom: The Last Dance, the upcoming third movie from Sony’s Venom saga, will also be the final movie in the series. The first movie arrived in 2018 and starred Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock/Venom. A second movie, Venom: Let There Be Carnage, released in 2021 and featured the violent symbiote Carnage played by Woody Harrelson.

Sony Motion Pictures Group chairman Tom Rothman confirmed that Venom: The Last Dance will be Venom’s last cinematic outing – at least until the MCU decides if it wants to use the character or not. “The third and last Venom, is going to be huge,” said Rothman. He also teased that while Sony might be retiring Tom Hardy’s trilogy, the character still has potential for future crossovers and events, stating “when the last of the Spider-Verse movies comes with Phil Lord and Chris Miller, it’s going to be a significant event, as will the next Tom Holland Spider-Man film.”

It’s unclear if Sony, which views Venom as quite a big box office draw next to Spider-Man, will recast the character and/or reboot the series once Tom Hardy steps down. Interestingly, Hardy has yet to appear next to the current Spider-Man actor, Tom Holland, in a movie (not counting a post-credits scene for Spider-Man: No Way Home), despite being one of Spider-Man’s most well-known villains in the comics.

The plot of Venom: The Last Dance is being kept under wraps. It’s set to star Tom Hardy next to Juno Temple and Chiwetel Ejiofor, who reportedly plays the main villain of the movie. It will be directed by Kelly Marcel, who previously wrote the first two Venom movies as well as Fifty Shades of Grey.

Both Venom and Venom: Let There Be Carnage have earned over a billion dollars collectively at the worldwide box office, so it makes sense to keep that momentum going with a third and last dance.
