Venom The Last Dance Reviews Not Good

Venom: The Last Dance Reviews are In and It’s Not Good

Reviews are officially in for Venom: The Last Dance, the third (and apparently final) movie in Sony’s Venom saga starring Tom Hardy. However, those hoping for a better sequel than Venom: Let There Be Carnage might be disappointed to discover that the general consensus for the comic book movie isn’t very good.

As of writing, Venom: The Last Dance has a low 38% approval rating on RottenTomatoes based on 68 reviews. For comparison, this is higher than the first movie’s 30% approval rating but lower than Let There Be Carnage, which had a 57% approval. Altogether, there has never been a Venom movie in the series that has been certified fresh. Despite the middling reviews, the movies have always raked in fairly good box office numbers.

Christy Lemire from RogerEbert.com gave Venom: The Last Dance 1.5/4, stating:

“When it leans hard into the inherent absurdity of its wacky, mismatched buddy antics, “Venom: The Last Dance” can be a total blast. Unfortunately, that doesn’t happen nearly as often as it should.”

Jarrod Jones from Paste Magazine awarded it 5.8/10:

“Although this enjoyably capricious version of the character doesn’t quite resemble his vicious, violent comic counterpart, there’s a reason why Venom resonates with filmgoers—this spud wants to party and, when it counts, knows how to put on a good one.”

Andrew J. Salazar from Discussing Film gave it 2.5/5, stating:

“While Venom: The Last Dance does try to give an emotional goodbye to Eddie Brock and Venom’s hilarious “bromance,” too much of Tom Hardy’s comedic charm is buried under Sony’s unnecessary franchise setup.”

David Rooney from The Hollywood Reporter gave it a slightly more positive review, saying:

“This being the concluding chapter of a trilogy, it all leads to an emotional catharsis that will no doubt satisfy fans of the earlier movies, with a sweet touch of cheesy humor to offset the melancholy.”

It seems like most critics agree that Venom: The Last Dance is definitely one for the fans, while casual movie-goers might not enjoy the experience.
