Tony Todd, the voice actor behind Venom in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, has teased a new game that he’s working (or worked) on with Spider-Man voice actor Yuri Lowenthal. Back in December 2023, a massive leak at PlayStation first-party studio Insomniac Games revealed a number of unannounced projects planned for the next decade – one of which happens to be Marvel’s Venom.
Tony Todd recently sent Yuri Lowenthal a birthday message on Twitter/X saying, “2 major projects down & counting.” One of those major projects was of course Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 but the other one hasn’t been announced yet. If we look back at the big Insomniac Games leak from last year, one of the projects mentioned is Marvel’s Venom.
Some reports suggested that it would be titled Venom: Lethal Protector and it would be a spin-off on the scale of Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, which was still pretty sizeable for an off-shoot game from the mainline series. Beyond that, we have no other information about the unannounced game though it seems like Tony Todd will once again return to voice the anti-hero/villain in his own story.
Happy birthday @YuriLowenthal

There’s also a small chance that Todd might be referring to Marvel’s Wolverine since it’s possible that both Todd and Lowenthal might be featured in the game, either as cameos or more significant characters. It’s likely that the universes are connected under Insomniac’s vision so it wouldn’t be out of the ordinary to expect appearances from some noteworthy faces from the Spider-Man games.
The leaked documents also mention that Insomniac Games will be working on a new Ratchet & Clank alongside Marvel’s X-Men, though those projects are a lot further away from release than Marvel’s Venom. Sony is banking on Insomniac to be its leading studio for Marvel related titles. Hopefully it doesn’t hold the developer back from tackling other original ideas too – or potentially another Resistance game. It’s been too long.
