Yesterday Vodacom enabled the first 5G towers in South Africa and while coverage is limited, it is a start. This includes towers in Johanessburg, Pretoria and Cape Town. The company plans on rolling more support out over the course of the year. However, this may take some time. There is no rush though as the Vodacom 5G pricing is crazy and speeds are limited at launch. The company claims they will reach above 1Gbps soon but for now, the service is limited to 150Mbps – 200Mbps.

So what can you expect to pay the Vodacom 5G pricing? Well, a lot of money. The service provider does not come in cheap and when compared to the likes of Rain who is a lot cheaper, the experience seems to be rather lacklustre for the “world-class service provider”. Firstly, we have the limited speed and secondly, Vodacom is only supporting 5G through contracts over 24 and 36-month durations. In addition, all of them are also capped.
Vodacom offers two ways to purchase 5G but before you do, check out the coverage map.
