Volition to Launch “Boss Factory” Saints Row Tie-in Game Ahead of Launch

As part of the upcoming Saints Row marketing campaign, Volition is reportedly working on a standalone game called Boss Factory that will tie into the upcoming full release. According to a report, this Boss Factory game will launch on 9 June and give players the opportunity to create their own unique Saints Row character which they can then port over to the main game when it launches in August.

While details are scarce on Boss Factory, the tie-in does make complete sense. Saints Row features quite an in-depth new boss creation system where players can truly go to town on their own unique character. They can equip them with glowing teeth, giant nipples, huge heads and more. Giving players the opportunity to craft their own character before the launch is a nice way for them to experience this customization system without spending money on the game yet.

According to the report, this Boss Factory game is meant to live alongside Saints Row so even after the game launch, players can go back and make their new boss, import them into the game and play with them.

The game will also offer a unique way to share your unique creation with friends and online. The game comes with a unique QR code feature that is generated after your finish customising your character. This code can then be put into other gamers’ Boss Factory to generate the same character. In addition, this can be done regardless of the platform they are playing on.

The report also claims that this Boss Factory game will feature the full robust customization features available in Saints Row at launch. The game will also ship with its own “Hall of Fame” and “Creator’s Corner” where Volition will host the best creations made in the app.

Volition is expected to announce the Boss Factory app this week during one of the many Summer Game Fest streams. It is then expected to release on 9 June ahead of the game’s official release on 23 August.

We recently saw an hour of never-before-seen gameplay for Saints Row. While the game’s lead characters are already annoying me, the general gameplay looked fun and appealing. You can read my full preview of the game here.
