Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 Gets Free Content Update and PS5 Pro Support

The Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 Obelisk update is now out on all platforms, and it marks the biggest free content to arrive in the game since launch. The content focuses on a new mission where players need to shut down a literal obelisk that is causing major issues for the Imperium.

This obelisk objective comes in the form of a new mission that is free for all players. During this mission, players will face off against new enemies and meet the annoying Tzaangor Enlightened. This flying creature soars around and attacks players from above. So you’ll need to come equipped with the right gear to take it down.

Alongside the new mission, Space Marine 2 also has new cosmetics available for purchase. The Bulkwark Class gets its own Champion Skin, while the Dark Angels Chapter Pack comes with some green armour for all classes. There are also some cool armour kits as part of the game’s Season Pass.

Saber Interactive has also confirmed that Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 update 5.0 Obelisk adds PS5 Pro support to the game. In a post on X, the game’s publisher says the game now runs at 4K 60FPS with improved performance. Up to now, PS5 players would have had to choose between 4K 30FPS or 1440p 60FPS.

At the moment, we don’t know if this 4K 60FPS is achieved with PSSR. However, this is likely the case. Most games have been taking advantage of the PS5 Pro’s PSSR feature to upscale the resolution and boost frame rate. Some games haven’t been doing it as well as others, though. So we’ll have to see if Space Marine 2 holds up.

Regardless, if you’re craving more Space Marine 2, this update is great news. In my review, I praised Space Marine 2 for its excellent action and campaign. The only downside was the lack of content. So as long as we keep getting this cool content, I am sure this is going to be one of the best games to be released this generation.
