During The Game Awards in December, Focus Entertainment dropped the bomb that the publisher was working on a new Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 game. The announcement was most likely one of the biggest, and best-looking reveals during the show. However, if you were excited to get your hands on Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 this year, you are going to have to practice some patience. It seems the game is not scheduled to release in 2022 after all.
Games Workshop, the creators of the Warhammer series shared a document detailing the plans for the series in the next few months. The document claims that Total War: Warhammer 3, Warhammer 40,000, Darktide and Lost Crusade are all scheduled to release in 2022. On the other hand, the document also states that other games set in the Age of Sigmar universe and Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 are in the works.

By the sound of things, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 isn’t part of the Games Workshop release calendar for 2022. Instead, players might have to wait until 2023 to get their hands on the game. Either that or Games Workshop isn’t ready to promise a release date for 2022 just yet.
Games Workshop also says that the company is currently exploring other opportunities to bring the Warhammer series to life. This most likely includes new games and releases developed by other studios.
