Necromunda: Hired Gun

Warhammer 40K Shooter ‘Necromunda: Hired Gun’ Looks Pretty Fantastic

Necromunda: Hired Gun is an upcoming first-person shooter by Streum On Studio and published by Focus Home Entertainment. The game was recently leaked on the Microsoft Store earlier this week but the publisher officially announced it last night. So far, it looks rather crisp with lots of gore, gunfire and action.

Necromunda: Hired Gun is set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe. For those who don’t know, Necromunda is a forge world in the series where the Imperium of Mankind makes its weaponry including tanks, guns, mechs and dangerous devices. It is the world responsible for the arms which help keep the aliens away.

On paper, Necromunda is already a great setting for a first-person shooter given its role in the Warhammer 40,000 series.  The world is polluted to its core which means the population lives high above the ground in towering cities. Of course, the very rich live higher while the poor live down below.

Necromunda: Hired Gun supposedly takes place underneath the towering cities of Necromunda in the watery swamps and polluted slumps of mankind’s ancient buildings.

Yes, that is a rat grenade

While very little is known about the exact story at this point, the trailer does give us some idea of the gangs players will meet the weapons they will use to defend themselves. There’s a glimpse at a lady who is part of the Escher gang who are known for their trade with chemicals and augmentations. There’s also a Goliath which are people who use scraps and large metal panels as armour. They are brute killers and love keeping up close and personal with you.

There’s also a member of the Orlock gang who belongs to the mines and smelters in Necromunda. This gang basically run the refineries and factories.

There’s so much to unpack in the trailer that any Warhammer 40k fan will sit and rewatch it a couple of times to see it all. There’s even a glimpse of an Ambot which is a new humanoid creature possibly transformed into a disfigured alien-like monster due to the pollution down below. Check the Necromunda: Hired Gun trailer out down below and make sure you try and spot all the enemies and weapons. There’s a lot to see including autoguns, plasma rifles, hand flamers and much more. Necromunda: Hired Gun is set to launch on 1 June 2021 for PS5, PS4, Xbox and PC.
