Sniper Elite V2 Remastered releases today (14 May) and yesterday, we shared our review with you. The game isn’t exactly perfect and the issues from the 2012 version still persist, from poor AI to inconsistent level design and pacing. However, the one thing I praised over and over again in my review was those amazingly grisly and brutal X-Ray kill shots.

Thanks to remastered graphics including improved lighting, textures and HDR support, the X-Ray kill shots in Sniper Elite V2 Remastered look more brutal than ever. Check out 30 of these X-Ray kill shots on various maps and hitting several vital organs below.

These shots can sometimes be difficult to pull off, especially if you want to go for something like the “Dead Eye” achievement which you can see me hitting in the video, where you need to snipe an enemy through the eye. There’s even a menu option that you can enable that increases the frequency of these X-Ray kill shots occurring and it is simply so satisfying to watch that I could do it for hours and hours on end.
The X-Ray kill shots show the bullet travel in slow motion, puncturing an enemy’s body and hitting a vital organ such as their heart, lung or brain. The further away you are from your target and the more devasting the shot, the more points you get so you can climb those leaderboards, so there’s always a good reason to go for that perfect shot.
It is without a doubt the best feature of Sniper Elite V2 Remastered and honestly, I would say thanks to this feature it is worth the asking price. Sure, the rest of the game doesn’t hold up all too well with today’s gaming standards, but this certainly does.
