Focus Entertainment hosted a special Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 showcase which acted as an “extended gameplay” look at the upcoming horde shooter. The game is still scheduled to release sometime this year even though we don’t have a release date yet. We also know now that it will get a beta sometime too but we don’t have a date for that either.
The Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 extended gameplay showcase provides a good look at the game. Not only are the environments looking pretty incredible but the gameplay and action are on point too. If you don’t know, Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 uses Saber Interactive’s World War Z engine so the game is able to produce thousands of enemies on screen at the same time.
It definitely delivers this as hordes take top priority in the gameplay. Players will seemingly mow down thousands of enemies in blood-soaked environments. From shooting them to sawing them in half. It is all possible and looks impressive.
Sure, there are some wonky animations here and there and the combat often leads into the “Dynasty Warrior” genre but Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 looks fun.
Now we just need to wait for some more details regarding the game. At the moment, Focus Entertainment says Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 will be released in late 2023. We suspect this means November/December. The beta is also taking place before that. We don’t know if you’ll need to pre-order the game to gain access to this or whether it is an open beta for all users.
