Watch the First Trailer for Disney’s Live Action Remake of Mulan

During yesterday’s Women’s World Cup Final Disney released the first trailer for its live-action version of Mulan. The trailer, while short and sweet, shows off the film’s setting in China’s Han dynasty starring Yifei Liu in the lead role of Mulan.

The film is directed by Niki Caro and joins the other Disney live-action films currently released or in production such as The Lion King, The Jungle Book, The Little Mermaid and others.

Mulan is set for release in March 2020 and sees Yifei play Hua Mulan, daughter of Hua Zhou as he disguises herself as a man to take his place in the imperial army. The film is based on the 1998 animated story directed by Barry Cook and Tony Bancroft.

The trailer does not reveal Mushu the dragon who is reportedly not even a dragon in the film. There is also no sign of Cri-Kee, who we know is voiced by Jun Yu.

The movie also stars Jet Lie as the Emperor, Donnie Yen from Rogue One as Commander Tung, Yoson An as Chen Honghui, and Gong Li.

Mulan is set to land in cinemas on 27 March 2020 and will be one of many live-action Disney films to be released next year. Disney is also currently working on Lady and the Tramp set to release on Disney+, The Sword and the Stone, also on Disney +, and The Little Mermaid.
