WayForward is an indie studio best known for its work on the Shantae series. The studio is known for its vibrant art style across its games while also delivering a classic nostalgic gameplay approach that ties back to the late nineties. The studio is getting ready to release its next game called Spidersaurs. The game was previously exclusive to Apple Arcade then ported over to Android and now it is releasing on PS4, Xbox, Switch and Steam on 14 July.
Spidersaurs is no doubt inspired by the Contra series. The game follows a pair of rogue heroes as they set off to take down InGest Corp who have genetically engineered new creatures which are a mixture of spiders and dinosaurs. The corporation created these monsters as an alternate food supply chain but one day these creatures started turning on their creators and all hell was set loose on the world.

The two playable characters possess unique abilities that were born from eating this Spidersaurs meat. At the same time, they also wield awesome weapons that can take down these monstrosities. Spidersaurs is a run-and-gun game meaning players will explore levels while moving from one side of the screen to the other. Players will start the game with no skills and just two weapons but as they kill these Spidersaurs bosses they obtain new powers from eating the meat.
If you have ever played Contra or perhaps TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge, Spidersaurs’ gameplay will look familiar to you. The game is also fully playable in couch co-op. Check out the trailer for Spidersaurs. The game is releasing on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Switch and PC on 14 July.
