The Nintendo Switch is out today all over the world, and we have one in our hands. With everything that comes in the box, and all the different ways to use the console, what better way to show you what you are in for, than to do a quick unboxing of it?

The Nintendo Switch marks the launch of a brand new generation of gaming for Nintendo, as well as the release of the highly anticipated Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. For those who don't know, the console is a hybrid that brings in some portable gaming elements, as well as the home console model while docked into the docking station. This makes the console the best of both worlds as you can unplug the screen from the dock, take it anywhere you want, and carry on gaming without being tethered to your TV.

In the box

Considering the console is the most versatile model Nintendo has ever created, the contents of the box include everything you need to keep your Switch going while on the go, and docked into your TV at home.

  • Nintendo Switch console
  • Pair of Joy-Con devices
  • Pair of Joy-Con wrist straps
  • Joy-Con controller dock
  • Docking Station
  • AC USB-Type C power adapter
  • HDMi cable

One thing that is very interesting, is that I noticed just how little paperwork is in the box. Previous Nintendo consoles have had a forest worth of documentation like health and safety prints, and the instruction manual in every language on the planet. The Switch is very different, as it seems to have all the instructions on the box itself. Saving trees Nintendo, good job!

The entire console is portable, so you think you are getting a console, until you open up the box and see the two Joy-Con and the screen right int front of you. Nintendo have designed the box in such a way, that it kind of divides the content of the box, just the way the device is divided into portable and console mode. You have the screen and the Joy-Con, and the second layer is the docking station. It is a small design feature, which only lasts a few seconds when you first open up the box, but it is an awesome touch by Nintendo.

if you are still on the fence about the new console, take a look at our initial impressions of it after we got to spend a day with it. Also keep in mind that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has received dozens of perfect scores from across the globe. We will have our review up as soon as we can, but that should be proof of the device's sheer gameplay capabilities. We will have more soon regarding the Nintendo Switch including initial impressions and some reviews on the launch titles.

What do you think of the way Nintendo designed the box? Let us know in the comments below.
