Netflix has released a new teaser trailer for season 2 of its hit TV series Wednesday, based on the character of the same name from The Addams Family. The first look at the new season promises more whimsical horror that only Tim Burton could conjure up, as well as Jenna Ortega fitting comfortably into the shoes of Wednesday once again. Netflix also revealed the premiere dates for the second season which will be split in two episode batches.
Jenna Ortega will return for the role of Wednesday Addams with Emma Myers as Enid Sinclair, Hunter Doohan as Tyler Galpin and Joy Sunday as Bianca Barclay. Luis Guzman and Catherine Zeta-Jones will also reprise their roles in season 2 as Gomez and Morticia respectively. Actor Steve Buscemi, who we get a brief glimpse of in the new trailer, has been added to the cast, potentially as Nevermore Academy’s new principal.
The second season’s episodes will drop on the following premiere dates:
- Part 1 Premiere Date (episodes 201-204): 6 August 2025
- Part 2 Premiere Date (episodes 205-208): 3 September 2025
The synopsis for Wednesday season 2 reads:
“Wednesday Addams (Jenna Ortega), returns to prowl the Gothic halls of Nevermore Academy, where fresh foes and woes await. This season, Wednesday must navigate family, friends and old adversaries, propelling her into another year of delightfully dark and kooky mayhem. Armed with her signature razor-sharp wit and deadpan charm, Wednesday is also plunged into a new bone-chilling supernatural mystery. Creator/showrunners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar return for the spine-tingling second season of Wednesday, alongside executive producer and director Tim Burton.”
The first season of Wednesday premiered in 2022 and received mostly positive reviews from fans and critics for its focus on the character’s detective skills and the weird horror that she must deal with after entering Nevermore Academy. Hopefully the second season carries that momentum forward. According to Ortega during an interview in January 2024, the new season will focus more on horror than the first, which is quite exciting.
