Wednesday star Jenna Ortega says the second season of the hit Netflix series will lean more into horror. Season 2 currently doesn’t have a release date yet but Ortega assured fans that it’s in the works and coming in the near future. However, the actress also teased some of the changes that will be coming in the next season of the show as it aims to bring out more of the horror elements this time.
In a recent interview E!, Jenna Ortega talked about the second season of Wednesday and what fans can look forward to. The first season told the story of Wednesday Addams, the youngest member and daughter of the Addams Family as she deals with murder, mystery and family drama in her teenage years. In only one week, the series became Netflix’s most-watched show, a record that the live-action One Piece and other shows came close to topping.

During the interview, Ortega gave fans a taste of the horror-focused elements that will be present in season 2, suggesting that it will be “leaning into a little bit more horror.” She added:
“It’s really, really exciting because, all throughout the show, while Wednesday does need a little bit of an arc, she never really changes, and that’s the wonderful thing about her. There’s really, really good one-liners, and I think everything’s bigger. It’s a lot more action-packed. Each episode will probably feel a little bit more like a movie, which is nice.”
Season 2 of Wednesday will begin shooting in April this year, according to Variety. Due to the popularity of the show, Netflix is reportedly looking into producing a spin-off focused on Uncle Fester.
