If you have been playing Riders Republic, we are playing non-stop you can check out our hands-on preview here, then you’ve most likely been jamming out to the fantastic soundtrack in the game. Unfortunately, there is one song that Ubisoft has absolutely butchered in Riders Republic and that is a cover of Gangsta’s Paradise.
Kotaku found this song while exploring the game and we just had to share it. It is just painful and anyone who has heard the original Coolio’s 1995 masterpiece of Gangsta’s Paradise will agree. After hearing it, we can’t help but ask why Ubisoft? Why! Why didn’t Ubisoft just include the original song? It would have been pretty cool to ski down the snowy hills jamming to it. Perhaps it was expensive?
New Starfield Cities and Locations Revealed
Regardless, this cover of Gangsta’s Paradise isn’t good and the artist can send me hate mails all she wants but just no. Instead of the serious upbeat tune with faithful lyrics and meaning, we have a cliche guitar cover that sounds like Florence and the Machine put it together. No, wait. Even that is shaming one of the world’s best alternative bands this decade.
Take a listen to the tune down below thanks to Kotaku’s Zack Zwiezen.
Riders Republic is currently in open beta until tomorrow on PS4, PS5, Xbox and PC. We recently covered the closed beta and interviewed the game’s lead designer Manfred Neber. Check out our full preview of this crazy racer down below.
