Why is This Gangsta’s Paradise Cover Even in Riders Republic in The First Place

If you have been playing Riders Republic, we are playing non-stop you can check out our hands-on preview here, then you’ve most likely been jamming out to the fantastic soundtrack in the game. Unfortunately, there is one song that Ubisoft has absolutely butchered in Riders Republic and that is a cover of Gangsta’s Paradise.

Kotaku found this song while exploring the game and we just had to share it. It is just painful and anyone who has heard the original Coolio’s 1995 masterpiece of Gangsta’s Paradise will agree. After hearing it, we can’t help but ask why Ubisoft? Why! Why didn’t Ubisoft just include the original song? It would have been pretty cool to ski down the snowy hills jamming to it. Perhaps it was expensive?

Regardless, this cover of Gangsta’s Paradise isn’t good and the artist can send me hate mails all she wants but just no. Instead of the serious upbeat tune with faithful lyrics and meaning, we have a cliche guitar cover that sounds like Florence and the Machine put it together. No, wait. Even that is shaming one of the world’s best alternative bands this decade.
