Publisher Electronic Arts and developer Omega Force have released an awesome cinematic trailer for the upcoming monster hunting RPG, Wild Hearts, ahead of its release next week. The trailer challenges players to “tame a world gone wild” as Kemono, large beasts that have been infused with nature, are running rampant so it’s up to players to hunt them down with specialised ancient technology called Karakuri.
The premise of Wild Hearts is fascinating, pitting hunters up against ferocious monsters that have been warped by natural elements. Of course, several comparisons will be drawn to Capcom’s Monster Hunter series, especially the gameplay loop of repeatedly hunting monsters and acquiring resources to make better armour and weapons.

Omega Force isn’t a stranger to the concept, though, having developed the Toukiden series which followed a similar structure of hunt, carve, hunt, repeat. Wild Hearts is closer in its DNA to Toukiden than it is to Monster Hunter – one could argue it’s a spiritual successor. Either way, the game is shaping up to be an exciting experience for fans of the monster hunting genre.
Wild Hearts will be published by Electronic Arts under its indie publishing label EA Originals. The game can be played solo or in co-op with up to 3 players.
The official description provided under the Wild Hearts cinematic trailer reads:
“Kemono are giant beasts that have fused with their environment, as beautiful and as deadly as nature itself. For as long as the village of Minato has existed, our people have lived in fear of them: In dense forests they are ferocious as wildfire, and on the grasslands they are unstoppable as an incoming tide. Only through mastery of a mysterious ancient technology are we able to fight back. Wild Hearts is a unique twist on the hunting genre where ancient technology gives you a fighting chance against fearsome beasts infused with the ferocious power of nature itself. Take on these creatures alone or hunt with friends in seamless co-op.”
Wild Hearts releases on 17 February 2023 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC. Check out the cinematic trailer below.
