Dear David is scheduled to launch next week in South African cinemas. The film is based on the viral Twitter thread by BuzzFeed comic artist Adam Ellis. It follows a man who is haunted by a ghost named David after he gets roped into replying to internet trolls.
The film stars Augustus Prew as Adam Elliis who slowly loses his grip on what is real and what is online due to the ever-growing supernatural threat that surrounds his Twitter interactions. This David ghost clearly has an alternate agenda as it starts to make Adam’s life a horror story brought to life.
Given the movie is all about online interactions, we have two branded notebook stands to give away which fit the film’s theme. The stand will prop your notebook up on your lap in bed as you too sort through Twitter threads and hope they don’t slowly come to life around you.
The giveaway will run from today up until 3 November so be sure to enter before the cut-off. You’ll win one of the two branded stands available. Sadly, there are no tickets to the film itself this time around. But you can watch it in cinemas starting on 3 November. Check out the trailer below and enter the form to stand a chance of winning one of these.
Shortly after comic artist Adam (Augustus Prew) responds to Internet trolls, he begins experiencing sleep paralysis — while an empty rocking chair moves in the corner of his apartment. As he chronicles increasingly malevolent occurrences in a series of tweets, Adam begins to believe he is being haunted by the ghost of a dead child named David. Encouraged by his boss to continue the “Dear David” thread, Adam starts to lose his grip on what is online…and what is real. Based on the viral Twitter thread by BuzzFeed comic artist Adam Ellis.
